Nestled in natural beauty, Medina offers abundant opportunities for recreation. Whether launching a boat on Lake Independence, strolling along Medina Lake’s boardwalk, taking in a ballgame at Hamel Legion Park, or enjoying a game of pickleball at Hunter Lions Park, there’s something for everyone to explore.
Medina's Recreational Field Use Policy
The City of Medina aims to maximize the use of all park venues while preserving park assets and ensuring fair access for all local users. To maintain the quality of fields and courts, rules and regulations have been established for their proper use. Select ball fields, tennis courts, and open space areas are available for reservation. Please review the Recreational Field Use Policy and fee schedule before submitting a Recreational Field Reservation Application.
Community Programs
Medina residents have access to community education programming, lessons, sports, camps, arts, youth & adult enrichment programs, and more through Area School Districts, Three Rivers Park District, and Non-Profit Organizations.
Additionally, residents can enroll in Area Cities’ programming at a non-resident rate or take advantage of area businesses* that provide youth programs, lessons, and adult fitness:

Friends of the Park Program
The Friends of the Park Program is a community partnership established by the City of Medina to promote the beautification and maintenance of City parks and open spaces for the benefit of current and future residents. Participants may contribute by collecting litter, planting vegetation, removing noxious weeds, or engaging in other City-approved park enhancement activities.
If you are interested in participating in the program and becoming a “Friend of the Park”, fill out an application and return it to Medina Public Works, 600 Clydesdale Trail, Medina, MN 55340. Email PWSTAFF@MEDINAMN.GOV with questions.
Park Donation Program
The City of Medina Park Donation Program enables people to donate a picnic table or park bench to be set in a Medina City Park. Donating a bench or picnic table is a personal and generous way to honor a loved one and contribute a lasting gift to the community. Click the below form to learn more about the program:

Area Recreation & Athletics
Baseball
The Hamel Athletic Club provides youth baseball programs to Medina residents as well as to residents of surrounding cities. Hamel Baseball registration typically opens in mid-January for the spring season. Please visit www.hamelbaseball.org for more information and to register.
Orono Baseball provides youth baseball programs to Medina residents living within the Orono school district.
The Hamel Hawks are part of an amateur adult baseball league playing against teams from the west metro area. View the Hamel Hawks schedule.
Tennis
Are you looking to introduce tennis to your child or wanting to increase their skill level? Steve and Carrie Agre offer beginner, intermediate and match play tennis lessons for kids 6 years to high school at Hamel Legion Park (3200 Mill Drive). Adult lessons are also available. Soccer for Toddlers
Are you looking to introduce your toddler to soccer? Soccer Shots offers programs for “the littles” at Hamel Legion Park (3200 Mill Drive) with a focus on making a positive introduction to sports and activity while also making a lasting impact on kids and their families. Golf
Baker National Golf Course – is approximately 336 acres in size and is included in the Morris T Baker regional park. Many residents use this course, and it is regarded as one of the best public courses in the Metro Area. It also has winter recreational activities including, skiing, snowshoeing and a sliding hill. It is National Audubon certified golf course because of its wildlife-friendly management.
Medina Golf and Country Club – is a 225-acre private golf course in the northeastern section of the City.
Spring Hill Golf Club – is a private golf course located primarily in the City of Orono.
Skiing
First Tracks Ski Scholarships – Three Rivers Park District
To help everyone experience downhill skiing and snowboarding, Three Rivers Park District offers a scholarship program at Hyland Hills Ski Area called First Tracks. People who are enrolled in a county, state or federal economic assistance program qualify, and they also offer scholarships to schools and agencies serving youth with financial need.
