Garbage & Recycling

The City of Medina contracts with Republic Services for garbage, recycling, and organics recycling services for all residential properties in the city. Although the license controls rates and certain aspects of service, special requests and rates for removal of appliances and other large items, complaints, etc. are handled directly with your hauler. By limiting this service to just one company helps save wear and tear on the city roads.

Garbage is picked up on Wednesdays.

Recycling 

Residential single sort recycling is picked up every other Wednesday. Set recycle carts out by 7:00 a.m. on the days noted on the calendar. Place recycle carts at the curb 3 feet from your trash cart.

Organics Recycling

The Green Bag Organics Recycling service is available to all single family Medina residents at no additional fee. The fee is already included in your single-sort recycle fee and garbage service. The Green Bag Organics food waste recycling system is an amazingly easy way to recycle kitchen scraps, discarded leftovers, spoiled produce, paper towels and paperboard take-out containers. This organics waste will be converted into nutrient-rich compost to fortify lawns, flower beds, and backyard and community gardens. What makes the program so affordable is that Republic Services picks up your Green Bag Organics each week using the same truck they use to take away your regular household trash. That means one less truck will be traveling on your street

How to recycle your organic waste:

1. Contact Republic Services to get a supply of certified compostable Green Bags
2. Collect organic waste in your Green Bags
3. On trash day, place your tied Green Bags and place in your regular garbage cart. The Green Bags are then separated at the facility.
